The total market is huge to say the least. Detonation Space is targeting aerospace, aviation, and drone markets. Total market potential amounts to 165 million units.
We unlock global mobility by enabling supersonic flights. Our engine, which is currently in the prototype phase, is suitable for hypersonic jets - a technology that will revolutionize transportation in the next couple of decades.
Detonation Space's patent-pending rotating detonation engine can increase the payload weight carried in space missions by more than 2 times, providing great cost reduction.
The Problem
Modern vehicles operate using combustion engines - a technology that hasn’t changed much since its development in the 19th century (source). Combustion engine technology limits efficiency of spaceships, aircrafts, and drones.
This causes some problems obviously, as current tech is:
Heavy: Space rockets are quite heavy and bulky when evaluated in terms of the payload they carry, due to the fact that conventional rocket engines are quite inefficient. Only 5% of the total weight of space rockets is payload! Most of the remaining weight is fuel. (source, source, source, source)
Expensive: Aerospace firms spend most of their resources on engines (source).
Limiting: The high fuel consumption limits space exploration, carrying more passengers, going further, and longer flight times (source).
The Solution
Detonation Space works on new generation propulsion technology rotating detonation engines.
What We Do:
We are developing rotating detonation engines which are thermodynamically 30% more efficient than conventional combustion engines with aerospike nozzles (Source, Source).

What We Achieve:
We have carried out numerical works and some partial experimental tests of the Lundet-7 engine, which can produce 7 kN thrust and continue to develop it.
At the End:
In 2022, we plan to perform the flight test using the rotating detonation engine for the first time in the world.
And, we increase payload capacity by:
Decreasing engine sizes
Decreasing cost per KG of weight
While reducing both the weight and size of aircraft engines, we also increase their efficiency. By removing the high pressure compressors and turbines from the engine, we are developing simpler and more efficient engines. Thanks to our detonation combustion model, we plan to provide a 30% increase in efficiency, reduce fuel costs in passenger planes and increase passenger capacity. The reduction in the weight of the engines and the increase in efficiency enable faster and cheaper flights.
The Market
The total market is huge to say the least (source). Our technology is providing a more efficient alternative to combustion engines. Current combustion engine market is estimated to grow by 4.6% per year between 2020-2027, reaching 226 million units by 2027.
Detonation Space engine is currently crafted for use in rockets. But our objective is to also serve aircraft, helicopter, and drone markets with our updated engines. We provide market specifics below.
Here’s more on what our market space looks like (source):
Total TAM Size = 100.7 Billion USD
SAM Size = 1.11 Billion USD
SOM Size = 204 Million USD
Not only are we bringing existing technologies to the next level by updating engine dynamics, but we believe we are also helping to unlock a completely new mode of transportation for humanity - hypersonic flights. Some time ago crossing the globe on a plane in just a few short hours could only be seen on the pages of a science-fiction novel or on our movie screens. Today it is becoming our reality. Hypersonic flights. One of the major challenges for implementation of hypersonic flights is a suitable engine. The prototype Lundet-7 engine developed by Detonation Space is intended to be technologically suitable for hypersonic jets and planes, and will give a major push to the development of above-the-speed-of-sound flights.
Our Traction
And we’ve come a long way. Here’s where we’ve been, and where we’re going.
We are very excited to announce that Detonation Space has been accepted into Starburst's Aerospace Accelerator Program run with University of California Los Angeles! We are very happy that being a part of this community will take our work to a higher level.
Starburst is a highly networked accelerator program that enables aerospace startups to commercialize their technologies and increase the availability of their products, brings startups together with investors and institutions, and tries to reveal innovative technologies.
What We Do
We go the distance by manufacturing engines for both the aerospace and the aviation industry. In addition, we offer services for the implementation of these engines in the products of the company we sell to.
We plan to produce engines with different thrust values and present them to aerospace and aviation companies in the market - inspiring them to use our lighter, more efficient engine.
Here’s some of our engine’s specs:
GIF
*Rendering of Detonation Space engine. Images are computer-generated demo versions. Product is not currently available on the market.
The Business Model
The total cost of a rocket engine in a rocket is about $20 million, depending on how many are used (source). Our strategy here is to sell engines between $20-30 million - as we believe they are more advanced, and higher quality than most on the market.
Based on the advantages of our engine, we expect that companies would have reduced fuel expenditures and see value in spending fewer resources on development of their own engines and instead purchasing Detonation Space engines.
Our target market is companies that manufacture rockets, aircrafts, helicopters, drones, and missiles. Detonation Space will make money by selling engines, supporting equipment, and providing on-demand engineering and maintenance service.
How We Are Different
The detonation engine technology we use in the rocket engine industry attracts the attention of academic circles today. NASA, US Navy, and leading academic institutions are pushing this technology (Source, Source).
We believe no product is produced for the industry yet, and so far, the studies in general have been carried out for only academic purposes.
There are a few companies in the sector that only produce rocket engines, but these companies produce deflagration mode engines. So they are thermodynamically stuck at the limits.
Additionally, only some universities work in detonation technology. At this point, we are ahead of the game in detonation engine technology: both with our academic studies and experiences in the experimental field.
The Vision
Our vision is to be a company that proves itself - using detonation engines to achieve 3% dominance in the market within the next five years.
We are planning to establish a test facility in the near future, and among our clients, we see companies producing rockets, aircrafts, helicopters, drones, and missiles.
Here’s where we are going:
OUR LEADERSHIP
As the co-founder of the company, Umit Yelken completed part of his master's thesis at the von Karman Institute for Fluid Dynamics - working in the field of detonation.
This led him to successfully applying a detonation model to a rotating detonation engine with his numerical studies. And with that, he has 8 years of experimental experience on rocket engines, as well as awards in some rocket competitions in the United States and Scotland.
Now, our team is made up of mechanical and material engineers, business development experts, and academics alike who have what it takes to make this technology successful.
With high levels of experience in research, production, and testing with commercial companies in this field - we have the team to thrive.
Why Invest
It is an indisputable fact that the space and aviation industry will grow rapidly in the future, and we set out to take the most important step of this growth.
It is time to abandon the technology of the 20th century and look towards the future with Detonation Space.
In the aerospace and aviation industries at the moment, most big players implement a vertical integration model, where they produce all the parts of a rocket in house. This requires huge R&D expenses and a long development cycle.
On the other hand, if we look at the aircraft industry - companies like Boeing and United Airlines do not produce engines themselves. They purchase engines from companies that specialize in engine development instead.
This allows them to outsource the technically-heavy process to concentrate on their main mission: transporting goods and people from one destination to another. Thus, they remain competitive in the market.
We believe the same will happen in the space industry, and this will only create huge demand for engine and other equipment producers.
By starting now, we are preparing to meet that demand and serve the market. We invite our investors to walk with us on this path.

Pratt & Whitney and GE received a $500 million grant from the US Air Force Research Laboratory to develop detonation propulsion, according to the Łukasiewicz Institute of Aviation.
This is important news. Prominent university labs are working on developing this technology. Still, the high funding of GE and other large companies in this way indicates that there is an urgent need for this technology. Detonation engines play a crucial role in meeting the needs of both the aviation industry and the aerospace industry to go one step further!
Studies on detonation engines are ongoing in many parts of the world. One of them is Poland. Poland had also tested a low-thrust detonation engine.
Big companies are working on detonation engines by receiving extensive funding. One of those who do this work is General Electric. Below I present the information about detonation engines on the website of General Electric.

Dear followers,
Detonation Space develops products in a very different way than other engine developing companies. We would like to present a very short information about this.
The combustion speed in both rocket engines and aircraft engines is at subsonic speeds. They act according to a certain thermodynamic cycle.
Detonation Space's engine technology is using the ZND detonation thermodynamic cycle created by Y. B. Zel'dovich, John von Neumann, and Werner Döring. The burning rate is supersonic. So what advantages does this offer?
As a result of these
We encourage you to invest in being a part of such technology and facilitating access to space.

We continue to validate our analyzes using different fuel types. We conducted our first test at high flow using hydrogen as a fuel. It's completely clean technology. No emissions.
We run a lot of tests, but this test was really quite a special one. We tested our hydrogen system for the first time. The results are quite promising. The propulsion technology of the future is just that! Higher specific thrust, lighter engines, resulting in easier access to space.
Our success is your success. Detonation Space, which has made it a target to commercialize detonation engines continues to run towards bigger goals with you, its investors.
Best regards
